Solid Waste and Recycling

IMPORTANT NEWS!!! DAMA has now taken over the collection of household solid waste and recycling. As always, we appreciate the cooperative efforts of our residents in making this program successful. Thank you.

TRASH

There is a TWO bag limit on trash. Collection starts at 6:00am on your scheduled collection day. Additional bag stickers are $3.25 and are available at: Dallas Centre Hardware, Cook’s Pharmacy, Thomas’ Market, and Newell Fuel Service. ALL TRASH AND ASHES MUST BE PLACED CURBSIDE IN BAGS FOR HEALTH & SAFETY REASONS. Thank You.

RECYCLING

Single Stream Recycling will now be collected every other week. Please refer to the calendar to know when the proper items may be placed curbside. The following items get recycled:

Cans

Aluminum beverage cans and steel and tin food cans. Please rinse the can and remove the lid or push it into the can. No need to remove labels. NO FOIL OR FOOD TRAYS, PLEASE!

Glass

Food and beverage containers such as jars and bottles only! Clear, green, or brown glass. Remove lids and rinse. Leave labels on. No light bulbs, mirrors, window glass, etc. Cans and glass may be mixed together in the same recycling container.

Plastics

Recyclable containers 1 thru 7 only. The symbol is on the bottom of the container. Most soda, milk, water bottles and laundry containers fit this category.

Paper/Cardboard

Newspapers, magazines, office paper, and phone books less than an inch and a half thick must be tied in bundles or bagged with paper grocery bags and placed at the curb.

Important Notice for Owners of Rental Properties

Due to the numerous accounting and clerical problems, in adition to the increased work load for our office staff, Effective January 1, 2004, DAMA will no longer bill tenants separately for the use of the DAMA Public Sewer System, or the solid waste and recycling program. All bills associated with DAMA services provided to apartments or other rental units will be sent directly to the property owner of record.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause, however we feel the savings of time and human resources which in turn help to stabilize the cost of providing municipal services to our customers, will be most beneficial to all parties concerned.
